Dr. Ana-Christina Ramón is a social psychologist who has worked on social justice issues related to equity and access in higher education and the entertainment industry for about two decades.
Dr. Ramón is the inaugural Director of the Entertainment and Media Research Initiative, housed in the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment at UCLA. As the founding director of EMRI, she manages the research initiative and is a co-founder and co-author of the UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report with Dr. Darnell Hunt. The report, which has multiple releases each year, provides annual analyses of movies, television and audiences, offering in-depth breakdowns of theatrical and streaming moviegoers and TV viewers, what they chose to see and the people behind those hits, as well as data and trends on race and ethnicity, gender and disability status around key job categories.
The inaugural Latino Film Institute Scholar, Dr. Ramón holds a B.A. in psychology from Stanford University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
She has been quoted and featured in publications such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, The Wrap, Forbes, Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times.
