Bruce S. Dunn, the Nippon Sheet Glass Company Professor of Material Science and Engineering at UCLA, has been elected to the World Academy of Ceramics in recognition of his outstanding achievements in sol-gel materials and the development of new electrochemical materials and devices.
 
Dunn joined the faculty at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science in 1980. He is one of 17 distinguished researchers named in 2013 to the World Academy of Ceramics, founded in 1987 and dedicated to promoting progress in the field of ceramics and fostering a better understanding of the impacts of ceramics in science, technology, history and art.
 
Formal presentation of the academy diploma to new members will take place in June 2014 at the Conference Internationales Materiaux et Technologies in Montecatini Terme, Italy.
