“Your Survival Instinct Is Killing You,” a new book by Dr. Marc Schoen, assistant clinical professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, which argues that humans need to temper their evolutionary survival instinct in order to avoid inflammation and other physical ailments.
“Your Survival Instinct is Killing You” examines how our most basic instinct at the heart of survival in earlier times is now placing us in harm’s way.
Schoen has studied the area of performance under pressure extensively, particularly as it relates to physical and mental decision-making. He has a particular interest in retraining the brain for the purpose of altering its influence on behavior and health.
