Dr. Michael A. Rodriguez, director of the UCLA Blum Center on Poverty and Health in Latin America, has been appointed to serve as the co-director of the Center of Expertise on Migration and Health (COEMH) at the UC Global Health Institute. The center is a multidisciplinary, university-based program that studies and addresses the health consequences of international population movements.
The UC Global Health Institute is a 10-campus University of California initiative dedicated to improving the lives of people in California and around the world.
In this role, he will be responsible for four program areas: behavioral and socio-economic determinants of health, health outcomes in migrants' communities of origin and destination, child health, and health care delivery and policy.
Rodriguez is currently professor and vice chair of family medicine in the department of family medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
