Dr. Gary Lask, clinical professor of medicine in the division of dermatology in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, has received the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s Excellence in Education Award. The award recognizes individuals who have made a significant commitment of their time to teaching dermatologic surgery and promoting the advancement of this specialty.
Lask is the director of dermatologic surgery at the Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Center at UCLA. He is a leader in using lasers in the field of dermatology, having headed one of the first investigation sites for the original pulsed dye laser, which has been used to treat a number of skin conditions.
A member of the UCLA faculty since 1989, Lask has co-authored several textbooks as well as one of the first publications on the use of the CO2 laser for the treatment of sun damage and wrinkles. He is also a founding editor of the Journal of Cutaneous Laser Therapy.
