Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, dean of the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, will serve as a panelist in an Education Town Hall at “Rise as One,” the 2013 Annual Conference of the National Council of La Raza, which will take place July 20-23 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
It is the nation’s largest gathering of the Hispanic community and provides a forum for more than 25,000 community leaders, activists, and volunteers; elected and appointed officials; members of the corporate, philanthropic, and academic communities; and others. This year, First Lady Michelle Obama will serve as keynote speaker.
Suárez-Orozco will be on a panel of prominent scholars, policymakers and other public figures in the Latino community to discuss “Beyond Immigration Reform: Education as the catalyst for integration.” The event will take place on Saturday, July 20, from 3-4:30 p.m. and will be streamed live online. In addition, the event will be broadcast on Telemundo the following day.
