Mona Jarrahi, associate professor of electrical engineering at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, has received a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers — the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on science and engineering researchers in the early stages of their careers.
Jarrahi is working to develop technologies for use in healthcare, telecommunications, remote sensing and other applications. Her research focuses on developing next-generation devices and integrated systems for terahertz/millimeter-wave sensing, imaging, computing and communication systems.
"The impressive achievements of these early-stage scientists and engineers are promising indicators of even greater successes ahead," President Obama said in announcing the awards. "We are grateful for their commitment to generating the scientific and technical advancements that will ensure America’s global leadership for many years to come."
Jarrahi is one of 102 scientists and engineers to receive a one of these awards this year. For more information, visit UCLA Engineering.
