Academy Award winner Guillermo Navarro has been named the 2013 Kodak Cinematographer-in-Residence at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT). Navarro won the Oscar for “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Among his numerous other films are “Pacific Rim," “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” Parts 1 and 2, “Hellboy,” “Spy Kids” and “Stuart Little.”
TFT’s Cinematographer-in-Residence program, sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Company, began in 2000 to enhance the learning experience of students with insight from renowned cinematographers. TFT is the only film school that offers a program in which students can receive direct guidance from cinematographers through screenings, workshops and one-on-one sessions over the course of 10 weeks.
Navarro joins a distinguished group of cinematographers over the program’s 14-year history at TFT. They include, among others, Roger Deakins (“No Country For Old Men,” “True Grit,” “Skyfall”); Dante Spinotti (upcoming “Hercules: The Thracian Wars,” “Tower Heist,” “Public Enemies”); and Conrad L. Hall (“Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “American Beauty,” “Road to Perdition").
