UCLA's Hammer Museum recently acquired 25 works by familiar and new artists for its contemporary collection. The additions come from Joel Wachs, a former Los Angeles councilman and the current president of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. During his time as a councilman, Wachs took particular interest in the arts and culture of Los Angeles.
The donation includes drawings, photographs, sculptures and paintings. The new acquisitions include works from artists already on display at the Hammer, such as Nayland Blake, Jonathon Lasker, Kristen Morgin, Jorge Pardo and Henry Talyor. Some new artists include Marily Minter, Franz West and Rober Therrien.
One donated piece is "Untitled (Decorated Chronology of Insistence and Resignation)" by Lari Pittman, a professor of art at UCLA and artist member of the Hammer Museum Board of Overseers.
