Jody Priselac, executive director of UCLA's Center X at the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, has been appointed associate dean for community programs within GSE&IS.
Priselac has led Center X, which is dedicated to improving K-12 education for underserved students of Los Angeles, since 1999. In her position as associate dean, Priselac said that she hopes to create professional learning spaces for teachers and administrators, as well as foster a college-going culture in schools.
"It’s about finding ways to engage all of our faculty in the K-12 world, [and] bringing together the people who have the most experience and the most understanding, that we can all learn from each other, to continue to focus on these issues, to create schools that are good places for all students," said Priselac, a former teacher in Los Angeles. "I see my new role as creating these bridges.”
