The UCLA athletic department has received a $1 million donation from former tennis student-athlete John Mapes and his wife, Carrie. The donation will be used to endow four scholarships at UCLA as part of the Four Deep Scholarship Endowment Campaign. The scholarships will be used to support student-athletes competing in men’s tennis, football and men’s basketball at UCLA.
In appreciation of their generosity, UCLA will honor the Mapes family by naming these endowments after them. The Mapes family will have their name displayed on a plaque in the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. An endowed gift supplies the athletic department with a source of income that provides the resources needed to attract, develop, and retain the nation’s most talented student-athletes and coaches.
