Laurence D. Fink, chairman, CEO of BlackRock, Inc. and the newest recipient of the UCLA Medal, talked about how China will have to transform its society to keep its economy moving forward.

Nobel laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Toni Morrison is scheduled to be awarded the UCLA Medal — the campus’s highest honor.

Malcom was awarded UCLA’s highest honor for her work championing public science literacy and increased access and opportunities for girls, women and underrepresented minorities.

Uber executive Rachel Whetstone, Target CEO Brian Cornell and U.S. Rep. Lois Capps are among the prominent figures who will speak at UCLA’s 2015 graduation ceremonies, which begin May 15.

Dr. Gary Parker was awarded the UCLA Medal for his humanitarianism — spending his career aboard a hospital ship providing free oral and reconstructive surgery to needy people in Africa.

Philanthropist and entertainment industry magnate David Geffen received UCLA's highest honor — the UCLA Medal — prior to speaking to the 2014 graduates at the Geffen School of Medicine's Hippocratic Oath ceremony.

"David Geffen exemplifies the spirit of optimism and innovation that is the hallmark of UCLA," said Chancellor Gene Block, who will present the UCLA Medal to the entertainment magnate and philanthropist on May 30.

Chancellor Gene Block presented the UCLA Medal, the university’s highest honor to an individual for extraordinary achievement, to James (Jim) L. Easton May 8 at the Chancellor’s Residence.

After receiving the campus’s highest honor, the secretary-general spoke of efforts to mobilize citizens around the world to help address issues including climate change and women’s rights.

The former secretary of state offered her observations about the turmoil in Ukraine and offered advice to UCLA students about how they could help reinvent the U.S. economy for the 21st century.
