The University of California today introduced a new academic roadmap for California Community College students who plan to apply to transfer to UC campuses.
UCLA alumna Esmeralda Garcia, who began high school reading at a fifth-grade level, returned to her high school to address students at a rally attended by UC President Janet Napolitano.
More than 112,000 students — with more diverse geographic, ethnic and racial backgrounds than last year’s applicants — have applied for admission to UCLA for fall 2015.
Nearly 1,100 students from Washington Preparatory High School, located in southeast Los Angeles County, heard senior leaders from UCLA deliver a simple but inspiring message: A UC education is within your reach.
The newly admitted students include 9,128 California high school seniors, 83 percent of whom graduated in the top 9 percent of their classes, as well as highly qualified students from 48 other states, the District of Columbia, and 77 countries.
Nearly 15,000 admitted first-year students and their families will have an opportunity to experience first-hand what makes UCLA a top choice for their college career.
Students who learned that they'd been admitted to UCLA, selected from a record 86,000 applicants, shared their excitement on Twitter, Instagram and other social networks.
