To help celebrate the 75th anniversary of March Madness, UCLA unveiled 11 pieces of original art — each one representing one of its NCAA men’s basketball championships — at Wednesday night’s men’s basketball game against Arizona State. The 11 works were among 75 pieces commissioned by the NCAA to celebrate the 75 years of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. All 75 pieces were painted by artist Opie Otterstad and can be purchased via an online auction at www.ncaa.com/art. A portion of the proceeds from the auctions will benefit the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation, which supports Ticket to Reading Rewards, the College Basketball Experience and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. The painting above, featuring Coach John Wooden and Sidney Wicks, represents the 1971 NCAA championship in which UCLA defeated Villanova in the title game, 68-62.
