water-spout

Construction crews working on a residence hall accidentally knocked over a fire hydrant Thursday afternoon, causing water to shoot about 70 feet in the air on Young Drive West near Sproul Presidio, according to Assistant Fire Marshall Steve Jurado. A backhoe struck the hydrant at about 2:45 p.m., spouting water higher than the neighboring buildings for about 15 minutes. No one was hurt and, apart from the hydrant, there were no damages. The water ran downhill and the road was re-opened at 4:15 p.m. Photo by Nathan Jin Chung Chow.
