coldwater2A water-infrastructure project that begins Saturday, March 23, will cause serious traffic woes on Coldwater Canyon, one of few options for commuters crossing the Santa Monica Mountains and a key road for drivers headed from the San Fernando Valley to Beverly Hills.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will completely close the canyon road from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Though UCLA commuters most likely already use roads farther west, displaced Coldwater drivers could increase traffic on favored Bruin routes. The closures are scheduled from Saturday, March 23 to Friday, April 26, from Ventura Boulevard to Mulholland Drive. Los Angeles' Metro blog, The Source, provides more details.
