Filmmaker’s work inducted into National Film Registry

 
Billy-WoodberryBilly Woodberry, an independent filmmaker and a lighting/grip technician for the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, recently had the honor of seeing his 1984 film, “Bless Their Little Hearts,” being inducted into the Library of Congress' National Film Registry. Woodberry, who earned his MFA in 1982 from the film school, was one of the leading directors of the L.A. Rebellion. His film is among those being recognized as works of great cultural, historic or aesthetic significance to the nation’s cinematic heritage and will be preserved as a treasure for generations to come. Center director contributes to book on Olympism

 
Gary-Rhodes2Gary Rhodes,  director of the Center for Global Education at UCLA, has co-written a chapter in a recently published book, “Olympism, Olympic Education, and Learning Legacies” (Newcastle upon Tyne: Cambridge Scholars Publishing. 2014). In it, Rhodes and Jessica Zlotnicki of WorldTeach Columbia maintain that high-profile sports events like the Olympics provide an opportunity to teach, create and promote more peaceful relationships among nations during and after the Games.
