New director of Office for Students with Disabilities

Edward McCloskey, a staff member at UCLA since 1992, is the new director of the Office for Students with Disabilities, announced Monroe Gorden, Jr., assistant vice chancellor of student affairs. He succeeds Kathy Molini, who retired last January after 26 years of service as director.

Edward McCloskeyDuring his tenure with UCLA Student Affairs, McCloskey’s responsibilities have grown from the oversight of parking, transportation, housing appeals and marketing to his previous position as assistant director of the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD).
One of the innovative programs he developed involves walking the campus with visually impaired students to help orient them to the UCLA walkways and buildings.

Prior to starting his career at UCLA, he worked in residence life at Cal Poly Pomona and Penn State, his undergraduate alma mater. He earned his M.A. in 1997 from UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.

"Ed brings an outstanding expertise in the field of service for students with disabilities and has an unparalleled familiarity with UCLA’s efforts in academic accommodations and key campus resources," said Gorden in making the announcement to campus leaders. "With this background, he is uniquely prepared to continue and expand the exceptional services that have characterized OSD over the years."
