UCLA's extensive partnership with Dorsey High School, where students currently participate in seven UCLA community programs, was celebrated Tuesday by Dorsey administrators, teachers and students and a group of UCLA representatives, headed by Chancellor Gene Block. A UCLA community partnership banner, the 100th to be displayed, was raised at Dorsey at a school assembly. The banners symbolize UCLA's ongoing commitment to the community to serve as a partner and good neighbor. UCLA now has close to 200 community programs and 1,200 partners. Among the invited guests greeted by Dorsey Principal Reginald Sample were Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Janina Montero, Dean Marcelo Suárez-Orozco of the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, former Bruin star running back Johnathan Franklin and Ashley Williams, a Dorsey High and UCLA alumna who helped start UCLA's Guardian program.
