As part of its ongoing effort to bring the world of UCLA to as wide an audience as possible, UCLA Magazine has launched its first iPad app to better serve readers in the digital age and bring them the very best of UCLA arts, athletics, entertainment and discovery.
The inaugural issue is packed with stories and interactive elements, including video and photo galleries. Here’s what you’ll see:
- From the October print edition, a profile of the Bruin artists and their art that adorns Los Angeles Metro train and bus stations;
- Also from the October issue, a feature on how the women’s tennis team won UCLA’s 111th national title in a nail-biting finish;
- And from the July issue, the powerful and heart-rending story of how one wounded veteran regained his smile thanks to the UCLA surgeons, nurses and other health care practitioners of Operation Mend.
The UCLA Magazine app, available at the Apple iTunes Store, will publish concurrently with the print edition once every quarter.
“The app dramatically expands our potential audience for UCLA Magazine from Alumni Association members, select donors and parents to include the entire Bruin community — students, faculty, all donors, all parents and all of UCLA’s 400,000 living alumni,” said Rhea Turteltaub, vice chancellor of external affairs, the department which publishes the award-winning magazine. “Just as importantly, it brings the UCLA brand story to the general public.”
