Jayathi Y. Murthy, chair and professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Texas, Austin, has been appointed dean of UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh announced today.

Jim and Carol Collins, who met while they were UCLA students in the 1940s, will have part of the training facility named in their honor.

The facility's recruiting lounge and terrace will be named in honor of Marilyn Silva-Lund and David Lund.
